A Wimberly guitar on the bench, surrounded by the tools that made it, an invitation to start a commission.

How it starts

Start with a conversation.

Wimberly guitars are not pulled from inventory. The first step is adding your name so Preston can follow up when a build slot opens.

A build begins with a 50 percent deposit, then moves through wood, oil, leather, blued steel, blackened nickel, raw brass, assembly, and final setup. Once your slot opens, build time is 12 to 16 weeks from deposit to delivery.

The process

What happens after you join.

01

Inquiry

You send the basics: model, timing, and any direction worth knowing.

02

Conversation

Preston follows up when a build slot is close, then confirms the model, material direction, and schedule.

03

Deposit

A 50 percent deposit holds the slot and starts the build.

04

Build

Wood, oil, leather, metalwork, assembly, fretwork, setup, and playing time. Plan on 12 to 16 weeks once the slot opens.

05

Final balance

The remaining balance is due when the guitar is finished, photographed, and ready to ship or hand off.

06

Delivery

The guitar leaves the shop set up, documented, and signed with the W.
